In 2007 the constituency experienced extreme flooding leading to significant investment in flood defences in towns like Stratford and Alcester, as well as in a number of the villages.
Despite this, many areas have been hit by flooding since. Since becoming Stratford-on-Avon’s MP, I have worked with the Environment Agency, Parish Councils, Severn Trent Water, and other residents and residents groups to develop action plans for individual communities. I have also lobbied the Government to ensure that sufficient funding is made available for new flood defence schemes.
Specific areas I have worked on include:
-
Snitterfield
-
Welford
-
Long Compton
-
Shipston
-
Alcester
